Pricing

Mountain Cabin

How much are sessions?

I work on a very personalized sliding scale, whenever possible. You can read my philosophy and approach below. This does not suit everyone, however, so I also provide a clearer pricing structure for those who prefer it. Sessions are between 50 and 55 minutes to give me a small bit of time between clients.

For those looking for a clear pricing structure:

Reduced rate: Sliding $45-90 per session (for BIPOC, trans/nonbinary, social activist, and/or financial need-based individuals)

Standard rate: $150 per session

Supporter rate: $180-200 per session (for those who wish to support my ability to offer reduced rates)

For those interested in discerning a more individualized pricing structure, these are my thoughts:

Money is, at its best, a poor way of extending community care in a hyper-individualistic society. Cultures different from my own, in different places and different times, have found other ways of caring for the collective well-being. In another context, my job might have found expression as some form of community healer, with my well-being taken care of through relationships of reciprocity based on understanding the connection between healthy individuals and healthy communities. Sadly, we do not live in such a culture, time, or place. Instead, we pay for things. We don't typically see paying the people who provide services as an expression of community reciprocity, but in a broken sort of way, it is.

Within this broken system, however, not everyone can afford the same level of payment. Someone's financial circumstances also do not reflect the measure of their meaningful contributions to society, since our society is, overall, set up to value all the wrong things. Being able to pay less doesn't mean one values their work with me less, nor that they deserve my services less. Likewise, being able to pay more doesn't necessarily mean one values their work with me more, nor does it mean that they deserve somatic coaching more.

With this general starting point in mind, for those who are up for it, I work out pricing structures in conversation with each of my clients individually. The practicalities of capitalism and modern life do mean that I can't see every client for an extremely low fee, but the historical realities of capitalism complicate our various "starting points" in life and create deeper questions for shared exploration. In conversation with a potential BIPOC client, for instance, I may offer a reduced rate, not out of charity or saviorism, but out of recognition that my current state of privilege in life has its roots in some of history's most egregious and horrific sins. This potential client may or may not feel that such an offer is appropriate. I seek to have these conversations with openness, honesty, and candor. Potential clients are welcome to offer feedback and suggestions as we consider possibilities. Clients with more financial means might voluntarily choose to give more than what my standard rate would be, knowing that surplus payment is recycled into community care for those with less financial means. Ideally, this type of community-minded payment discernment is itself a type of trauma-healing work.

My goal is to find the degree of financial investment that respects the work I do and supports you to truly value the work you will be doing with me. I also want our pricing arrangement to support a sense of ease and sustainability for the duration of our coaching relationship. We are not, together, looking for the minimum dollar amount I am willing to let you pay me. We are looking for a price where practical capabilities meet a felt sense of "rightness."

For those not interested in this type of intentional discernment work, please see my more standard pricing structure at the top of this page.

Please use the contact form to request a free 20-minute phone call to go over the work I do and discuss any questions that you might have. If you decide you would like to pursue a coaching and/or spiritual direction relationship with me, we can have a more in-depth subsequent conversation to determine pricing.
